FORMULA STUDENT

WHAT IS IT?

Formula Student is a competition involving university students from all over the world. Teams must design and build a single-seater race car, promoting excellence in engineering, while also carrying out a feasibility study of the project and developing a business plan.

This competition takes place in different countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Japan, Hungary, and Spain.

WHAT TESTS ARE THERE?

PHASE 1: STATIC TESTS

BUSINESS PLAN

Teams must present their business plan to the competition judges. The goal is to convince the judges of the project's profitability.

COST ANALYSIS

The judges will analyze the cost structure of the materials used to build the vehicle, as well as the manufacturing process itself.

ENGINEERING DESIGN

A technical report will be presented, specifying the different engineering solutions implemented and the advantages of the vehicle.

PHASE 2: DYNAMIC TESTS

MECHANICAL INSPECTION

REQUIREMENTS

The vehicle is inspected to ensure it complies with the requirements established by Formula Student regulations.

tilt test

The vehicle must meet the required fluid containment and stability standards:
FLUIDS: 45º
STABILITY: 60º

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

The electrical safety of the single-seater is inspected.

BRAKES

The correct operation of the vehicle’s braking system is verified.

TRACK TESTS

SKIDPAD

The vehicle must complete a figure-eight course in the shortest possible time, demonstrating lateral acceleration performance.

AUTOCROSS

The vehicle must complete a circuit of approximately 1 km in the shortest possible time.

ACCELERATION

The single-seater must accelerate in a straight line over 75 meters in the shortest possible time.

ENDURANCE

The single-seater must complete 22 km to demonstrate long-distance reliability, fuel management, and handling performance.
